Introducing: The Giske Cargo Pants
Doing the ubiquitous style justice
Words by Ali George Hinkins
BLÆSTs SS23 collection includes a range of pants, including the unisex cargo trousers Giske pant and Giske RS loose. While the ‘cargo silhouette’ is hard to gravitate too far from, they have opted for a technical take on the iconic style.
The difference between Giske Pant and Giske RS Loose
Inspired by the seasons in Norway, BLÆST always aim to combine functionality and purposeful design to create clothes you can wear regardless of the weather.
As the names suggest, the two Giske pants are similar. However, they differ slightly to ensure you can find a pair of pants that suits your style and needs.
One of the main differences is the fit. Giske RS Loose has a wide fit throughout the leg, while the regular Giske Pant takes on a slimmer, more form-fitting look.
Another difference is the choice of fabrication. Giske RS Loose is created using a durable Ripstop fabric, while Giske Pant uses BLÆSTs standard Care Tech fabric with contrasting fabric faces. Both cargo pants boast many of the same technical accompaniments.
Subtle displays of functionality
Both cargo pants are designed to ease your day-to-day inconveniences, with characteristics such as an integrated belt with a magnetic Fidlock® buckle and large pockets on either thigh.
If we look deeper into the construction of each pair, they share a fully seam-taped interior and 3-layer TPU lamination. In addition, they have a waterproof rating of 20,000 mm and a breathability factor of 10,000 gm/24hrs. To further enforce secure weatherproofing, each pair utilizes a PFC-free coating that helps to repel water instead of pooling on the surface of the pants.
In their signature form, they’ve opted for subtle displays of functionality that aren’t overt or flashy. This is because they want the garment to speak for itself while remaining highly wearable in transitional environments, from streets to trails. This way, you can wear the pants casually or in a functional context – that’s up to you and how you style them
The Giske Pant comes in black, dark navy, and birch, whereas Giske RS Loose is available in either black or beige.
