How to wash accessories
From the waterproof bucket hat to tote bags and caps – our accessories are made to last. But you need to handle them with care to ensure that they maintain the quality. Washing instructions differ slightly based on the product type, but for all accessories we recommend using a lukewarm washcloth to remove dirt and stains as quickly as possible. If that is not enough, however, you can follow the instructions below.
Bags
Products that should follow these instructions
The washing instructions below applies to all BLÆST bags: Moa tote, the pillow bags, and the Buldre bag.
For these products, we recommend hand wash unless the bag really needs a good washing. Most of our bags are machine washable, except the Buldre bag.
You can also wipe off the stain using a damp washcloth. This will help preserve the shape of the bag, as well as the colour and the technical features.
Hand wash
Use a mild detergent or soap. For grease stains, dish soaps might be a good option – but use it sparingly and only on the stain. If you do this often, it might affect the water-repellent coating.
Do not use bleach or fabric softener.
Do not leave the bag to soak in water over time.
Hang-dry the bag. For the pillow bag, you can use a tumble dryer on low heat (with tumble dryer balls). If you hang-dry a pillow bag, you’ll need to shake and puff it from time to time, just to make sure the padding dries properly.
Do not iron or dry clean.
Machine wash
These steps apply to the Moa tote and our two pillow bags.
Close all zippers.
If your bag comes with a removable shoulder strap, we recommend removing this.
Wash the product separately.
Use a mild detergent.
Do not use fabric softener or bleach.
Use a gentle wash cycle 30°C (85°F).

Caps and hats
Products that should follow these instructions
Even though you should be careful when washing your headwear, you can follow these steps to clean your Folven lightweight caps, Hatlane caps, or Øya bucket hat.
Hand wash
Our best advice is to remove stains as quickly as possible, as that will make them easier to remove.
Do not machine wash.
Wipe away small stains using a damp cloth. If you need to wash the entire cap or the sweat band inside, you can hand wash in cold water.
Use a mild detergent.
Do not use fabric softener or bleach.
Do not compress or squeeze the cap/hat too hard when removing water.
Lay flat to dry, for instance on a towel.
Do not dry clean or iron.
The Øya bucket hat is machine washable (gentle cycle 30° C), but avoid doing this too often as it can damage the colour and the technical features of the fabric.
Beanie
About the wool beanie
Our beanie washing instructions applies to our BLÆST beanie.
It is created using 100% merino wool, which is a delicate natural fiber. Proper care will ensure its longevity and maintain its softness, so you can enjoy your beanie for years to come.
But remember: merino wool is naturally resistant to odours and wrinkles, so frequent washing is not necessary. It's best to follow these care instructions to maintain the quality and appearance of your 100% merino wool beanie.
Hand washing
Fill a basin or sink with lukewarm water. Avoid using hot water, as it can cause the wool to shrink or felt.
Add a mild wool-specific detergent to the water. Avoid using harsh detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners. They can damage the wool fibers.
Gently submerge the beanie in the water and gently agitate it to ensure the detergent is evenly distributed.
Let the beanie soak for about 10-15 minutes, then gently rub any soiled areas with your fingers.
Rinse the beanie thoroughly with lukewarm water until all detergent is removed.
Gently press out excess water without wringing or twisting the fabric.
Drying
Lay the beanie flat on a clean, dry towel. Reshape it to its original form, ensuring that it retains its shape.
Roll up the towel with the beanie inside to gently squeeze out excess water.
Unroll the towel and reshape the beanie again, if needed.
Lay the beanie flat on a dry, clean towel or drying rack to air dry. Avoid hanging it, as this can cause stretching.
Keep the beanie away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent potential damage to the wool fibres.
Storage
Once the beanie is completely dry, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.
Consider folding it instead of hanging to maintain its shape.
To prevent moths, you can store the beanie with cedar balls or lavender sachets.
